Basically what it says, I thought Eco Mode used less toner but it just seems to shrink copies to 2 per page (not much use when you want a 1:1). Is this by accident (bug) or design?
Looking for the manual now that the Samsung pages are all pulled and there's nothing on the HP support page.
Also, I have a newer firmware than the HP published one; v3.00.01.29 as opposed to the 4-in-1 v3.00.01.27
Might have to root for the original CD somewhere!

From the CD (dug out of the loft)
If the machine set to Eco mode, reduce and enlarge features are not available.
You have to go to the SyncThru menu of the printer (via IP)
Default user: admin
Default password: sec00000
On Machine Settings|System|Eco Settings set to 'On'. Save, then 'Edit' turn N-up to 'Off' on Copy and Printer Driver. Save.
Why '2-up' is the default is anyone's guess.
Cannot downgrade FW either; good thing as the official firmware may stop non-Samsung carts from working. I use non-Samsung carts and they are chipped and work fine. There is a chip-read bypass out there from Russian FW hackers but I'm happy with the machine as it is now.
