M2070W
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I am trying to set up a Samsung M2070W on a freshly installed macOS 10.15.5 Catalina. I was able to set up the printer, but I cannot get the scanner to work.

This is how it looks like:

When I click on the printer, I get:

On another mac that I have running Catalina, the scanner appears on the right side on the box. I was unable to get it on the freshly installed. I tried to use both the provided driver (version 3.91) and AirPrint (version 2.0). I tried to add the printer as it is found and using it's IP directly. Nothing worked and I was not able to get the scanner part to work. FWIW: On the other mac, I have driver version 2.0

Magically, there was an update of the driver and now I have the scanning option!

Hello Drorata, I have the same problem with another printer model from Samsung, the C480FN.

I just downloaded the supposedly latest driver from the HP website but it still doesn't work.

Where did you get the driver that is working for you?

Hello again,

I did find the driver version 3.91 but the .dmg file isn't done correctly. When it is double-clicked it opens a window with three folders in it and no instructions on how to use any of them, instead of starting the installation procedure.

Through trying out, I discovered that one has to install the programs from the folders MAC_ICDM (apparently the driver for the scanner) and MAC_Printer.

After installing ICDM.PKG I was able to use the scanner from my Samsung C480FN through the Image Capture App from Apple.

I found the driver package on this official page from the HP website:

@CrisRich58 the update was suggested by macOS.
