Samsung 283x refuses to print.

Product: Samsung M283x laser printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer has been used for about 3 years and has worked perfectly, but now refuses to print. Error message reads:

   Paper is empty in manual feeder. Load paper (M1-5712)      I have never used the manual paper feed. The  problem  and message remains if I load it. I have taken all the troubleshooting steps, and all the software and firmware is completely up to date.
