Hi all,

I have a Samsung 4060FX and have recently had a couple of issues.

1. System crashed and had to be powered on and off.  After power cycle seemed fine.

2.  When scanning large document the system says scanner busy?

Any ideas what might be causing this.

Many thanks Simon

Ok, so I have resolved the issue.

I uninstalled all the software on the computer and reinstalled the lot.  I also updated the drivers.

The scanning function is now working again.

So it seems as though that was the problem, which is great as I understand that replacing the drive can be tricky.

Many thanks for your help Repairatrooper!

Kind regards Simon

Based on age, the harddrive might be failing. Unit will not scan without a harddrive present, so if harddrive is not stable it could easily cause scanning issues.

Hi Repairatrooper,

Thank you for the suggestion.  Is the process of replacing the drive easy?  Are there any guides available?

I am using the Samsung Print Manager to scan on my PC and this is where I am experiencing the issue.

I have tried scanning to a USB stick plugged into the printer however and this works albeit a workaround only.

Many thanks

the additional information completely changes the situation. I would look at corruption in the desktop app or possibly connection issues, you do not mention how you are connected. Flaky network connections can wreak havoc on scanning. Highly unlikely the hard drive based on your added information.
