Samsung Xpress SL-M2875FW Laser Multifunction Printer

Hi,

Just off the phone with HP re my Samsung with the no AirPrint on iOS 17. They have the fix they say. $129. US for 3 months support. $199. for a year.
Went all the way up to Engineers at Apple. Printer needs new firmware, though I did not hear directly from Apple,  printer companies new this was coming. Apparently biggest part Apple changed to the newest version of Bonjour requiring a rewrite of the firmware.

Reminds me of auto companies buying another manufacturer for their technology. Good luck a couple of years later sorry we don't service those vehicles any more.

I feel it is a little short sighted printers don't last forever. HP would gain more points looking after Samsung owners by building a great service. A plus for that next printer purchase being HP rather than the competition.

Curious what you think is a reasonable time for a company to continue supporting a product. This series was first released in 2013, the security landscape was much different back then and it is possible that there could he hardware limitations in the network chips that prevent compatibility and it would not be beyond Apple to throw another company under the bus.

What I find curious is that you defend a company that says there will be no more updates to Firmware.

No mention of hardware limitations, but offer a firmware update?, or is it a work around like PaperCut for only $129...or $199. from HP support team.

HP should just tell it like it is.

I think we will agree to disagree with how they are handling the problem.
