Samsung laser printer. Black print only. Multi-function. Date and time must be installed daily - recent problem.
HP web help inadequate. Model number entry not accepted, drop-down options to Samsung model number inconsistent with id label, other options totally unknown to me. Using printer very successfully for a number of years without issue.
Have "updated" drivers provided by HP but always had to return to original drivers due to resulting undesired consequences.
Unsuccessful previous efforts on-line searches to see "if need/how to" options for replacing CMOS battery or other potential issues causing problem. Just an inconvenience, but the printer is otherwise quality performance.
Would appreciate input options and option successes for "if need/how to". I have a general user's knowledge base so real techies will need to drop down to my general knowledge level. ; ) Many thanks!!!

The CMOS battery is likely soldered directly to the main board and therefore there would not be any instructions from vendor on replacing as by design the battery will typically outlive the printer, but that of course is not always the case.
Does the device copy in color? If yes then your problem is most often the driver and the failure of the driver installation to detect that printer is color capable. On your computer go to control panel, devices and printers and right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu. Click on the device settings tab and scroll down looking for an option called device type. Change that to color.
If the device will not copy in color then a hardware issue is probable.
