Samsung xpress m2070 is not starting up and the dashboard is displaying an error message "RipCM_Emu ctrl.c 264 RIPT". Cannot do a factory reset or update drivers. HP support doesn't work as it won't recognize the serial number.

Hi @edsgfeswg,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your Samsung Xpress M2070 printer is not starting up and is displaying the error message “RipCM_Emu ctrl.c 264 RIPT.” Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

a. Power Reset the Printer

Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Wait at least 60 seconds to allow residual power to discharge.

Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extension cords).

Turn the printer back on and check if it starts normally.

b. Disconnect External Connections

Remove all connected cables except the power cord (USB, Ethernet, fax line).

Restart the printer with only the power cable connected to rule out external communication faults.

c. Perform an NVRAM Reset (if accessible)

Turn off the printer.

Press and hold the Stop/Cancel button while powering on the printer.

Keep holding until the display flashes or restarts (this may take 10–15 seconds).

If successful, the printer should boot past the RIP error screen.

d. Check for Corrupted Firmware

The error “RIPT” usually indicates a firmware corruption or crash during startup.

Download the latest firmware for the Samsung Xpress M2070 from HP’s support site using this path:
https://support.hp.com → Software & Drivers → Samsung Xpress M2070 → Firmware.

Use another PC to download the firmware update tool.

Once the printer is recognized (via USB), launch the tool to re-flash the firmware.

e. Try Firmware Recovery Mode (if standard update fails)

Turn off the printer.

Hold down the Stop/Cancel + Copy buttons, then power on the printer.

Continue holding the buttons until the printer enters “Download Mode.”

Connect the printer to your PC via USB and re-run the firmware update utility.

I hope this helps.
