I get a loud distinct screeching (not squealing or grinding) for a couple seconds during the startup sequence, and continuous when I try to print (paper never loads). It sounds like it may be coming from the SMPS board (which has no moving parts?). Really hard to pinpoint though. Definitely comes from the rear-ish of the unit, and not from the geartrain.
The paper load shaft works just fine when triggered manually, but doesn't seem to attempt to turn itself when it comes time to load.
Only way I can get the noise to stop is to lift the SMPS board while starting... but then the startup sequence doesn't complete at all. I'm guessing by lifting the board, even with the ground wire still connected, another ground/contact is broken and thus nothing actually runs.
Sounds familiar to anyone?
