If I scan a document and save it as a PDF when I try to open the document in Word 2013 it opens as a photo and cannot be edited. I have checked all of the settings and all are for document, I have run the scan and print doctor and have found no issue. What setting is not correct and how do I change it so that I can edit a document in word. Thank You

Hi @vimar,

I'd like to help!

OCR software is required to use this feature. Open HP Scan software on the computer, and then look for a Save as Editable Text (OCR) shortcut.

  • If the shortcut displays, select it to scan the item as a document that you can edit.

  • If the shortcut does not display, your printer did not ship with HP OCR software. Purchase and install OCR software, such as OmniPage, FineReader, or Readiris.

You may refer to -How to Scan (Windows)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
