ADF NOT SCANNING FULL PAGES

WHEN SCANNING MULTIPLE PAGES MANY ARE ONLY SCANNING 3 INCHES AND THE NEXT PAGE THE BALANCE. SETTING AT LEGAL OR LETTER DOSEN'T MATTER. SCANNING GLASS IS CLEAN.

I had one of these nice printers several years ago -- 

I did not have the long enough for it to develop hardware problems.

Like my other OfficeJet Pro printers -- past and present -- the 8740 liked to be kept very clean.

There are a number of Troubleshooting guides related to this general type of issue.

For example,

If you have not done so - try cleaning the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

HP printers - Automatic document feeder does not pick paper or feeds too many sheets

Additional Troubleshooting Information - Documents and Videos

For example,

Open Category - Troubleshooting > Topic Print > Subtopic Jams

This document includes Cleaning and the Reset option

HP OfficeJet Pro 8720, 8730, 8740 printers - Paper Jam error

Should nothing help, perhaps the printer hardware is showing signs of age and wear.
