HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I've had my HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-one Printer for about a year and a half.  The ADF suddenly stopped working. I have uninstalled and re-installed the whole program but still not working.  Does anyone have a solution preferably with steps of how to rectify. Thanking in advance.

Does it work to make a copy? If yes you have a software problem. If it does not work for copies then you most likely have a hardware issue. Do you get any error codes? Does it try to feed and fail, suggesting a jam or does it not even try to feed?

No it doesn't work to make copies either.  Both feature only work through the glass.  When it tries to pick up from ADF  it says "Reload the original in the document feeder and try again" If its a hardware issue can this be fixed or look for a new printer as the ADF is important with my work

If it initially tries to feed and fails this is usually caused by dirty or worn ADF rollers. They can be cleaned with a water dampened lint free cloth. If cleaning them does not resolve the issue then the rollers may be to be replaced. ( If possible. Parts for this type of machine are not always offered.)
