HP Envy 6155e All-in-One Printer

I just connected my HP Envy 6155e to another computer and noticed shortly after connecting, a firmware update went through. Then went to scan something and says 'Couldn't Connect to Scanner' 'HP cannot detect scanner from this printer. Either no scanner was detected or HP Smart is not compatible with the scanner in this printer'. The scan feature worked just fine before the firmware update. What is the point of having an all in one printer if the scanner is not compatible with the software??? This is baffling!! Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

@computerhelp222, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Envy 6155e!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It seems you're experiencing difficulties with scanning on your HP Envy 6155e after a firmware update. Here are some troubleshooting steps that could resolve the issue:

Check HP Smart App Compatibility: Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your computer. It’s important that the app is updated to be compatible with the latest firmware on your printer.

Restart All Devices: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Power off your printer, computer, and router, then power them all back on.

Reinstall HP Printer Software: Uninstall the current HP Printer software from your computer and reinstall it. This can resolve any compatibility issues that might have arisen due to the firmware update.

Disable Internet Connection for Printer: If possible, disable the internet connection for your printer. Some firmware updates can cause issues, and disabling connectivity could help troubleshoot whether the update is causing interference.

Check Network Connection: If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi, ensure that it is properly connected to the network. Sometimes network issues can lead to inability to detect the scanner.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
