Microsoft Windows 11

I have had two major problems with this printer. The most recent one is that the app froze and stopped scanning my photo project and I lost three hours of work. The other one is that it won’t use third party ink.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Unfortunately, there is not a fix for either one of these.

True - you did not ask for help -- some people do choose to "report in" without the expectation of assistance.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scan Data

If the scan application or software collapses, any unsaved data is lost.

Collapse might be the result of the printer running out of memory, the application itself failing suddenly, the network, or the Operating system experiencing an unrelated problem that interrupts services.

The only solution going forward is to break jobs into smaller pieces so you can save your data frequently to prevent loss.

Third party ink

Third party ink is never supported.

Even if not prohibited, there is still no guarantee non-HP will work.

Ask your seller -- perhaps they will replace the product for you.

In the case of a printer that is protected by Dynamic Security, the printer is required to use genuine HP / HP chipped ink or toner.  There is no legal workaround.

Thanks for the information. Not being able to use other ink is an HP “profits before people” move. Also, imagine my amazement when this morning I read in the newspaper that HP has a class action lawsuit for the scanning problem. Apparently the HP printer will not let you scan if the ink is low even though you don’t need ink to scan. Another profits before people move. I am so disappointed in the corporate greed. “Nuf said “
