Am I reading the manual wrong? “Scan” button won't scan my profile, it just opens up the software

I have an HP L2683A (HP ScanJet Enterprise Flow N9120 Document Flatbed Scanner) in which I am trying to set up the “Scan” button on the front of the scanner so automatically scan it with the profile I setup and put the JPG into the local folder I have designated. 

Right now, when I press the physical SCAN button, the PC just pops up the “HP Smart Document Scan Software”, with the “Select a Scan Profile” option sitting there: 

Yes, I can run back over to the computer and press “scan” but that’s not what I want or is described in the manual, if I am reading it correctly: (AM I reading it correctly?)

(Text from manual: The scanner includes two quick start buttons, Scan ( ) and Copy ( ). You can associate any button-aware scanning software with each of these buttons. To associate a quick start button with scanning software, follow these steps: 1. Press the Tools ( ) button on the scanner front panel to open the HP Scanner Tools Utility. Click the Buttons tab. 2. In the Program to Start drop-down list for a button, select the scanning software that you want this button to start. 3. Optionally, if you selected the HP Smart Document Scan Software, in the Profile drop-down list, select a profile. If you do not select a profile, pressing the button starts the HP Smart Document Scan Software so that you can choose the scan settings each time that you start a new scan.)

I run the “HP Scanjet N9120 Utilities” AS ADMIN and setup the button to do my profile, as shown: 

But it doesn’t seem to be working as described.

To me, it looks right. That scanner model doesn't support digital sending. Digital sending is a feature when you load the original and scan it to a folder on your computer ( or network) without the need for other software, the scan is automatically saved in a designated place on a computer.

N9120, when you push the scan button, opens a scanning software on your computer, the profile is there only so you don't need to set it every time on your computer every time you want to scan.
Using scanning software is mandatory for N9120 automatic scanning is not possible. It is an old model prior to the introduction of the digital sending feature in later scanners. In the days you could buy a digital sender as a standalone device today's more advanced scanners can be used both as a scanner or as a digital sender.

Actually, I just set it up on the other button (copy) and it works just fine now.
