Hi Sandytechy20;  I think that I was able to delete HPSmart by moving it to trash from the App page.  I then reinstalled it.

While much slower than Easy Scan that I used to use, it did scan when I tested it.  I did not quite understand all the steps you mentioned.  HP said that there are no updates to HP Smart open.  As you can tell, I am not very techy.  Thank you for all your help.

You have to right click then uninstall, Moving to Trash won't remove all suite, this may only remove the icon or short cut.
