Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Product: HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

The HP Easy Start app only installs the driver that only works the printer. The work around for a lack of driver that will run the scanner is to install & run the HP Smart app.  In the app, you can install the HP 8600 printer/scanner.  It will not add it to your installed Mac scanner list, but you can run the app to perform a scan.

Please, this depends on the MAC version

 

Because there is only a driver up to version 13, after that, the installation is via the standard driver:

The solution I gave is a work around and works with Sonoma 14.5 to scan.

Exactly, there is an alternative MAC driver, as the current ones are up to version 13
