Auto answer for incoming FAX on HP OfficeJet Pro 8200 Series

Auto answer does not work for incoming FAXes on HP OfficeJet Pro 8200 Series.

I still have to push the accept button the screen.

But my head office often sends a lot of faxes before and after hours.

Are you sharing a fax line that you use for voice calls? What other fax settings do you have set, in particular the "this is a shared line" because some settings will override others.

Yes the phone line and fax line are shared. There is an answering machine on it as well. Do I need to look at the settings on the answering machine? I can't seem to find anything to set on the copier/fax machine other than auto answer. Any help for a very non-techie senior would be much appreciated.

I am going to have to lookup the fax settings on this model. An answering machine adds another level of complexity to getting everything to work properly. Older models would actually ask about the presence of an answering machine. The problem is that they are even more obsolete than fax  now with all the answering services offered by phone companies.

Can you confirm the exact model number of your device please.

My printer / fax is HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 Series. Purchased Dec 2020. (Shouldn't be obsolete. )

The phone / answering machine is Panasonic KX-TG4032C (no idea of the age)
