For setting up Scan to Email on your HP Smart Tank 7602 in macOS Monterey (12.0), you'll need the correct SMTP server and port settings based on your email provider. Here’s how to troubleshoot:

 

Find the Correct SMTP Settings

Each email provider has specific SMTP settings. Here are the common ones:

Gmail:

  • SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
  • Port: 587 (with STARTTLS) or 465 (with SSL)
  • Requires authentication: Yes
  • Use App Password if 2FA is enabled

Outlook (Hotmail, Live, Office 365):

  • SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com
  • Port: 587 (STARTTLS)
  • Requires authentication: Yes

Yahoo Mail:

  • SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • Port: 465 (SSL)
  • Requires authentication: Yes

iCloud Mail:

  • SMTP Server: smtp.mail.me.com
  • Port: 587 (STARTTLS)
  • Requires authentication: Yes

Other Providers: Check their official support pages.

 

Configure SMTP in HP Printer

  1. Open HP Smart on your Mac.
  2. Go to Printer Settings > Scan to Email.
  3. Enter the SMTP server and port based on your email provider.
  4. Enable authentication and enter your email address and password.
    • If 2-step verification is enabled, generate an App Password from your email provider.
  5. Choose TLS/SSL encryption (recommended).

Check Network & Firewall

  • Ensure your printer and Mac are on the same network.
  • Temporarily disable firewall or antivirus to test the connection.
  • If using a corporate network, check if SMTP ports are blocked.

Update Firmware & Software

  • HP Printer Firmware: Update via HP Smart.
  • macOS: Ensure Monterey (12.0) is updated to the latest patch.

Test with a Different Email Provider

  • If one email service fails, try using a different one (e.g., Gmail if Outlook isn’t working).
