Hi @TinyCanoe,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Great question! Yes, you can scan from your Mac mini to your HP Smart Tank 6001 without Wi-Fi, but you’ll need to use a USB connection because scanning requires a direct communication channel between the printer and the computer.

How to Scan Without Wi-Fi (Using USB)

1. Connect via USB

  • Plug a USB cable from your HP Smart Tank 6001 to your Mac mini.
  • macOS should automatically detect the printer.

2. Install HP Easy Start

3. Use HP Smart or Image Capture

  • Open HP Smart (from the Mac App Store) or Image Capture (built into macOS).
  • Select your printer and choose Scan.
  • You can scan to PDF, JPEG, etc., and save directly to your Mac.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
