Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP Officejet Pro 8610
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have my printer connected to my laptop and I use it to scan documents to pdf for work. I usually only use the scanner glass and would initiate the scan from the printer using the following method: Scan > Computer > Selecting computer > Scan to pdf.

Today I needed to scan an extra long document and needed to use the feeder to scan it. I downloaded the HP Smart app through the Microsoft Store and activated it with my HP account. Got it hooked to my printer over my wireless network and was able to initiate the scan from my computer selecting the scan feeder as my input. That all worked perfectly. Well, now my printer won't recognize my computer anymore and I can't scan my regular documents via my original method. I can scan just fine through the HP Smart app but I liked my old method where I didn't need a separate app to do things. I would turn my computer and printer on and they just connected before. Tap a few buttons on my printer and my file would just show up in my documents folder where I would drag it into the corresponding folder for work. Has anyone encountered this issue before? I'm not that computer savvy or printer savvy but with some well explained instructions I can usually find my way through a problem but this has me seriously stumped. Thanks for any suggestions anyone can offer!
