Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and older

Hi.  Using a Mac operating OS Sonoma.  I can no longer scan using my HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 from the computer.  It tells me there is an error communicating with the computer.  However,  I am able to print from the computer so I know it communicates.  What should I do?
