HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

I'm trying to reconnect the subject printer to my wifi network through WPS. The printer is about 8' from the router. The blue wireless light in front is flashing and starts flashing as soon as I power up the printer. There is no wifi button in the back. Pressing the WPS button on my router (Netgear Nighthawk 700 series) starts looking for the printer, but cannot find it. Thanks.

Hi @JimmyLV

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble connecting your HP ENVY 6455e All-In-One Printer to your Wi-Fi network using WPS, here are some steps you can try:

Ensure Printer and Router Proximity:

  • Make sure the printer is within the range of your Wi-Fi router, which you mentioned is about 8 feet away.

Check WPS Compatibility:

  • Confirm that both your printer and router support WPS. Most modern printers and routers do, but it's worth checking the user manuals or documentation.

Verify WPS Status on Printer:

  • The flashing blue wireless light indicates that the printer is in WPS mode. However, ensure that it stays in this mode during the entire connection process.

WPS Activation Timing:

  • Sometimes, the WPS button on the router needs to be pressed within a certain time frame after activating WPS on the printer. Try pressing the WPS button on your router shortly after initiating WPS on the printer.

WPS Pin Option:

  • Some printers also have a WPS Pin option. Check if your printer provides a WPS Pin, and if so, you might need to enter it on your router's web interface.

Router Configuration:

  • Log in to your router's web interface and ensure that WPS is enabled. You might find WPS settings under the wireless or security settings.

Printer Software/Firmware Update:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware or software updates. You can usually find this information on the HP website.

Router Firmware Update:

  • Similarly, check if there are any firmware updates available for your Netgear Nighthawk router.

Alternative Connection Method:

  • If WPS continues to be problematic, you can consider an alternative method of connecting your printer to Wi-Fi. This often involves manually entering your Wi-Fi network credentials on the printer through its control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
