Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I used to be able to choose color, as well as OCR when I scanned a document.  After upgrading to 64 bit, I've lost those functions. HP say all my drivers are up to date. Help please.

Hi @meridon,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've lost some functionalities after upgrading your operating system to a 64-bit version, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to address the issue.

Check Software Compatibility: Ensure that the scanning software you are using is compatible with a 64-bit operating system. Visit the HP official website and download the latest version of the scanning software that is designed for a 64-bit environment.

Reinstall HP Software: Uninstall the current HP software completely and reinstall the latest version compatible with your 64-bit operating system. Follow these steps:

  • Go to "Control Panel" > "Programs" > "Programs and Features."
  • Find your HP printer software in the list, right-click on it, and choose "Uninstall" or "Remove."
  • Download the latest software from the official HP website and install it.

Update Drivers: Even if HP says your drivers are up to date, it's worth double-checking. Go to the official HP website, enter your printer model, and download the latest drivers for your 64-bit operating system. Install these updated drivers to ensure compatibility.

Scan from HP Software: Instead of using the built-in scanning features of your operating system, try scanning directly from the HP scanning software. This software usually provides more options and control over the scanning process.

Check OCR Software: If OCR (Optical Character Recognition) functionality is not working, make sure you have OCR software installed on your computer. If it's included with your HP software, reinstall it.

Compatibility Mode: Right-click on the scanning software's shortcut or executable file, go to "Properties," and navigate to the "Compatibility" tab. Enable the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" option and select your previous operating system version. Click "Apply" and then try running the software again.

Remember to back up important data and settings before making significant changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
