Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have a new MacBook Air. I need to scan FROM my 8710 printer to my MacBook using the touchscreen but can not "scan to computer" because the computer does not show up. I can only see my desktop which is connected by USB. I need to be able to scan multiple pages and sometimes need to use the glass top (I receipt plus other documents don't go through the ADF). How can I add the MacBook Air to the list of computers that appear on the touchscreen to choose from?

Hi,

Please start by making sure that your macOS is up to date, lack of OS updates may break front panel scanning.

 

Next, follow HP Easy Start below to install the HP Essential Software and HP Easy Scan application:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

 

Once completing the installation, your Mac should become available for front-panel scanning.

Wow! a simple fix that I was unable to figure out on my own using other online support. Thank you so much. I am now scanning and printing wirelessly back and forth to and from my MacBook laptop as well as thorough USB to my old desktop. Thank you so much!
