Can't scan

HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer

I can print from phone and laptop. I was able to scan to laptop, when that stopped working could scan to email. Now it won't allow me to scan at all. Says I need to reinstall original software from when I got the printer. Of course I have no idea what or where that is, as the printer isn't exactly new! Can I download something to help? Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Can you download and install the HP FULL Solution Software for your operating system:
https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-5530-e-all-in-one-printer-series/...


Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

Hi, thanks for your reply.  Since posting I have actually done that, so all basic software should be OK. It does scan, but it's scanning one particular place on the form each time, not the form as a whole! Can you help with that at all please?

Hi,

 

 Under HP Scan, there should be a  Page Size, select "Entire Scan Area"

So your link told me to download HP Smart, I have done that and it connected my printer. The setting says scan page, but it still doesn't. It will if you scan through HP smart app, but not if you use the touchscreen on the printer. Also I used to be able to scan to email, but I don't seem to be able to do that either anymore! Thanks.

Yes I did. Then it pops up with, there is better more up to date software, and asks me to download HP Smart. I will recheck today, if there is the option to ignore it, and continue with your download. Thanks.

Your link takes me to HP support Software and drivers. I download it, it does the connecting to the printer, then asks me to continue set up online, then it asks me to download the HP Smart software. I've now done this a couple of times, it hasn't changed the scanning.

 

Edited to say I have followed the whole process for which I think was the third time, not sure what I did differently, but it works now. I really hope I don't need to go through all that again lol
