Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

After scanning a picture at 1200dpi, I hit the edit button. Once this edit window opens the picture never appears to allow editing. All I get is the blank grid.
I am trying this via HP Smart

These people might be scammers trying to steal your information / money.

====================================================================

It might be nothing more than a communication error - depending on the item scanned, 1200 DPI could be a LOT of data.  Might just be a failure to open the data, in other words.

If you are running Wireless,

If your Wireless is less than ideal (router / printer / computer),

Communication (data transfer) limitations are more likely than if you are running through a fast Ethernet connection.

Does that matter?  No, simply an observation.

What to do?

If you can do so, try saving the data as scanned.

If that works, open and edit the data later.

Rhetorical -

What happens if you scan the item using a lower DPI (try 300 DPI)?

Does this matter?  Mostly it just helps you decide whether the error is perhaps due to the size of the data you are trying to open and edit before actually saving.  It does not "fix" anything.

Regardless, if the application will scan the data but cannot allow edits,

If the data can be scanned and then saved,

Scan the item and save the scanned content to your computer.

Open the data (the photo / image) in photo editing software and edit.

If you have photo editing software use that to crop / correct / adjust the photo / image.

OR

No editing software?

If you need complex editing, color correction, other capabilities,

Consider / Try

Includes Plugin for creating Multiple-page PDF files for images (Poster or large paper printing)

Includes access (where available) to Scan with HP Twain > Adjust settings > Save

How to find Help within the Irfanview software

Once installed, open the software > tab Help

Example help entry:

Vertical/Horizontal Flip

  • Click on the Image Menu, then Vertical Flip. The image will turn upside-down. The left/right orientation will stay the same.
  • Click on the Image Menu, then Horizontal Flip. The image will turn side-to-side, as in a mirror.

Note: The effect can be used on a smaller portion (rectangle selection) of an image, as well as the entire image.
