Cannot get my envy photo to scan a picture to a jpeg

HP Recommended

I keep pressing scan and I keep getting told to go to have done this and the scanner has done a faded print but I want the scan to go to a jpeg. I have since realised that my camera can do the photocopy and probably achieve a better result, but the hp online support has been pathetic, and this seems to be a common experience. I keep installing umpteen versions of hp software and none of it seems to work, my computer is a bit old, I don't know how old, maybe just over five years old and in lock down I cannot call anyone in.

Welcome to the HP Community.

This perhaps has less to do with your computer than it does with your mystery printer.

In general, for MacOS or PC, you do  need to have the printer software installed.

In particular, Mobile devices (phones, tablets) must be supported by the printer.

If your computer Operating System version is supported for your printer,

You can find the software at your printer's homepage > Category Software and Drivers .

Pressing "scan" could be on the printer or on the computer.

Both would likely result in the request to load the software (123) if the software is not already installed.

Example - Install Full Feature Software / Full Driver

Recent version of Windows - Supported Printer model

If you have not done so, download-save-install the Full Feature Software / Full Driver for the printer.

Full Driver / Full Feature Software does not require a sign-in to use the software.

Download - save – run

  • Look for Easy Start in subcategory Software-Utility

  • Home Page - HP Easy Start >> Open Category Software and Drivers > Topic: Software-Utility > Download and save the current version of the Easy Start wrapper to install your print software

  • No Easy Start?  Look for and Install the Full Feature Software

Full Feature Software might have been relocated to Product Home  > Category Software and Drivers > Subcategory Software-Utility and / or might now be called  Print and Scan Driver and Accessories

  • Download-and-Save the printer software (Full Feature Software / HP Smart / Easy Start wrapper)
  • Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
  • Reminder:  If using Easy Start, select the Full Driver

Easy Start... The Journey

About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver).

You can Skip any suggestion that you add the HP Account – you’ll need the account at some point, but you can skip this suggestion (as many times as it insists it’s a good idea) during the full driver software installation.

Side Bar: HP Smart requires that HP Account sign-in > HP Smart is NOT the same thing as the Full Feature Software / Full Driver.

If you see it, you can skip any suggestion regarding Instant Ink subscription.

If using USB:  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the last part of the driver installation)

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Full driver provides print and scan functions supported by your printer.
