HP DeskJet 3755 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I have an hp deskjet 3755 that works great. I can print the info page (and whatever else I want) and see the wi-fi direct pw (still default). I can also use that to connect via wi-fi direct just fine. Doing that or connecting through my mbp's printer ui or via the printers IP address, I get to the configuration page called "embeded web server" (after accepting an SSL cert warning). Again, this all works great; I can see ink levels etc. What I cannot do is log in to make any changes. The default password (which matches the wifi direct pw) is rejected as are others I've tried. How can I either recover the existing web portal pw or reset it to be either the default or, ideally, passwordless.

More data:

Other parts of this forum indicate methods for other printers including holding the wifi and cancel button for three seconds (this has no effect) or make mention of user names (there is no prompt or input field for a username).

So... how can I get logged into the configuration screen?

(if it helps for any reason, the real reason is because I want to change the default print settings to use less ink...)

Stuck to the back of the printer is a PIN. This is the password for the web portal. Writing that down _ANYWHERE_ in the manuals online would be awesome.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you want to reset the EWS password, I am glad to assist you.

Resetting the printer's network settings to its factory default settings erases the embedded Web server (EWS) administrator password.

Follow these steps to reset the printer to the factory default settings:-

  • Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel together for three seconds.

Login to the EWS page with the default credentials and change the password.

Username: admin

Password: "leave it blank"

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
