Hi @jaketc007,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To change the email address associated with your HP OfficeJet 5255, you'll need to update the settings in your HP account. Here are the steps to do so:

Step-by-Step Guide to Change Email Address for HP Printer

1. Unregister the Printer from the Previous Owner's HP Account

First, make sure the previous owner removes the printer from their HP account. This step is essential for you to add the printer to your own account.

  • Ask the previous owner to log into their HP Smart account.
  • Go to the "Printers" section.
  • Select the HP OfficeJet 5255.
  • Choose the option to "Remove Printer" or "Unregister."

2. Factory Reset the Printer (Optional but Recommended)

Resetting the printer to its factory settings ensures all previous configurations are cleared.

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Go to the "Setup" menu from the printer's control panel.
  • Navigate to "Printer Maintenance" or "Tools."
  • Select "Restore" or "Restore Factory Defaults."

3. Set Up the Printer on Your HP Account

Now you can set up the printer with your own HP account and email address.

Create an HP Smart Account (if you don't already have one):

  • Go to HP Smart.
  • Click on "Create Account" and follow the prompts to create your account.

Add the Printer to Your HP Smart Account:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app on your device (available on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS).
  • Open the HP Smart app and log into your account.
  • Click on the "+" icon to add a new printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your HP OfficeJet 5255 to your Wi-Fi network and add it to your HP Smart account.

4. Set Up the Printer Email Address (HP ePrint)

You can customize the printer's email address for HP ePrint.

Enable Web Services:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to the "Web Services" or "ePrint" menu.
  • Follow the instructions to enable Web Services and print the information page.

Customize the Printer’s Email Address:

  • Log into your HP Smart account.
  • Go to the "Printers" section and select your HP OfficeJet 5255.
  • Find the "HP ePrint Address" section and customize the email address if needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
