Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

iMac
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I've actually had scanning problems since I bought my new circa 2017 iMac in 2018. I'd had a Canon printer for years that scanned wirelessly like crazy with no problems. The new iMac would no longer support that printer. So I bought a new Canon that was a piece of junk and stopped scanning very quickly. After it began to have problems doing everything, I bought the HP Envy 5055.

Well, it stopped wanting to scan pretty soon, tpp. . I think I've already uploaded an app to solve the problem the first time. I am being asked to do it again. I guess I will go through this song and dance. I am very frustrated. Worse than that but I am trying not to use expressive but "bad" language.

I get this message:

"Visit 123.hp to get the HP Smart app or other HP scanning software for your computer".
And I will do that, but I can't help thinking back to the good old days of my old Canon, where I could scan many pages )LOTS OF PAGES), I knew where the scans were and it was transparent how to affix them to an email, and it just kept going. I guess it would behoove me to call Apple support and ask about this. In the meantime, if anyone has any words of wisdom, please, feel free.

Thank you, Trish

@Trish222, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Are you able to print from your MAC?

There are different apps you can use to scan from your MAC.

Which app are you trying to use for scanning to assist you better?

Do you get any errors while scanning?

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC
