I just purchased this OfficeJet Pro 9025e all-in-one printer. Since it does not come with a manual, i'm having to figure this out on my own. I'm trying to use the automatic feeder to scan documents. I've verified that the feeder works - I placed a document in the feeder try, selected "copy" on the screen, and the document feeds through and then prints a copy. However, when I put a document in the feeder, and then go through the selections to scan it to my computer, you hear the scanner engage, with the document still sitting in the feeder, and then a few seconds later, a blank white sheet pops up on my computer. I try pushing on the document, thinking maybe it needs help to "grab" it, but nothing. The feeder obviously works, as it works for copying, but why will it not work for scanning?

Thank you so much for the detailed response!! I wound up talking to an HP tech, and it took over 2 hours to get corrected, with him linked-in to my computer to resolve the problem. Apparently, there was a setting on my computer for "Scan" that was defaulted to a Windows setting, that he switched back to "Scan" only. This was after also reinstalling the driver suite. I think that both were the cause because 1) after he reinstalled the driver suite, several more app icons populated my desktop that were not there previously, even though i originally downloaded and installed the exact same driver suite when I set up the printer and 2) even after re-installing the driver suite, the document feed still did not function until he made the switch on the "Scan" properties on my computer.
The document feed worked when I copied documents from the printer, but not when scanning. The feeder worked for both, however, when copying and scanning was initiated from the app on my computer. The tech said this was an isolated case and was related to Windows, rather than the printer. It's been a few days since he corrected the issue, with computer shut-downs and reboots each day, and so far, still working.
Thank you again for your assistance and information provided in your response!!

Update - Replace Example plate
You are welcome.
Good that it's fixed. ✔️
True - When the full driver printer software is fully installed, generally two shortcuts are added to the Desktop - one each for Print and Scan. An additional shortcut might be added for "Supplies". Adding the shortcuts is not the only measure of true installation success -- the shortcuts are certainly one of the hallmarks of the process.
Model Dependent
Perhaps the "Scan properties" setting mentioned in your post is the one in Scan Properties > Events
It's true that where the Scan Properties is available and relevant, (that) certain settings can produce unexpected results.
That said, Scan Properties is definitely related to the printer so I'm likely off-track.
Interesting that "it" is considered isolated -- few things in printing and scanning are considered a true anomaly.
Smiling.
