You need software to scan to Word.

You need software to convert PDF to Word.

The software you seek is not part of your printer's HP full driver printer software.

Purchase / obtain the software you want.

FYI for others reading:

• Select newer "e" printers and a few non-e printers support HP+ / Smart Advance.
• Smart Advance supports scanning to file type .docx using an HP Smart Shortcut and a supported Cloud Storage account.

Embedded OCR Software (Full Feature Software)

Embedded OCR software was removed from some printer software installation packages in mid-2022.

Other printer software never included OCR.

If removed, possible reasons (not verified) might include:  Compatibility issues, licensing limitations, changes elsewhere in the printer software that required the embedded OCR to be removed.

If the printer software description mentions having removed OCR and if you have a slightly older version of the Web Pack Installation package saved in your system (check your Downloads folder or in one of your backups), install that older version of the full Web Pack.

If reloading an older version is not an option for any reason, install the latest version of the available full driver printer software and then purchase or obtain OCR software for your use.
