Hi! @goodfood, Welcome to HP forums.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out. Let me ask you a few questions in order to assist you better.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from the printer?

Have you tried printing from a different application?

Have you tried printing using a different ink cartridge?

Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.

Let's continue with the troubleshooting now.

Update the printer firmware and check if it helps.

Update the printer firmware using this link. Click Here

Replace low, empty or faulty ink cartridges on your printer.

If the copy works fine uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.

I have the same issue and have performed all the same troubleshooting steps but does not resolve the problem the only difference is that I am on a Mac.  At first the problem occurred sporadically but then it became consistent.  I don't use the printer very much either so I'm wondering if lack of use can cause the issue.  Any help would be appreciated.

@Micicat, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I assume that you have a DeskJet 3630 All-in-one printer. Are you able to make photocopies on the printer?

If yes, follow the steps below. Remove and add the printer using AirPrint drivers-

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add. Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

If the issue occurs on photocopies too, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
