Document feeder on my new 8028 has the same issue. The solution provided is not useful. The example the HP technician posted shows the feeder opening hinged to the side of the printer. My document feeder is hinged and opens the rear of the printer.

Please provide a better solution.  Thank you.

OK - Mystery thread.

You are convinced you are looking at the wrong data.

I still don't know what you are doing, what you are looking at, or which printer you have.

We are at an impasse.

One more try...

To load an original in the document feeder

1 Load your original print-side up into the document feeder.

a  .If you are loading an original printed in portrait orientation, place the pages so that the top edge of the document goes in first. If you are loading an original printed in landscape orientation, place the pages so that the left edge of the document goes in first.

.Slide the paper into the document feeder until you hear a tone  🎶 or see a message on the printer control panel display indicating that the loaded pages were detected.

TIP:  For more help on loading originals in the document feeder, refer to the diagram on the document feeder tray.

Next,

The software / application you are using must be set to use the ADF as opposed to the flatbed (glass).

Documents do not move until the application / printer control you are using starts pulling the documents.

For example, you need to activate the feeder by starting a job.

Good Luck.

Stay Safe.

Not sure what to tell you.

I don't know what solution you were provided.  ??

The printer illustration and the drawing associated with it should be accurate for this printer series.

Regarding where I saw the solution, it was in another thread on this forum with a similar subject line. It showed the top hinged on the side.  The manual in your link shows the top hinged at the back, as printed is set up.

When I place documents in the document feeder, they do not move;  I have to place documents on the glass scanner in order to scan.

Do you have any ideas to make the document feeder, well, feed scanned documents?  Thank you.
