@johnford1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you have a physical document and you’d like to scan it using your HP OfficeJet 8025 printer and save it to your HP desktop running Windows 10 as a DOC or PDF file, you’re in the right place. I’ll walk you through the steps — it’s pretty straightforward!

Prepare the Document and Printer

  1. Turn on your HP OfficeJet 8025 printer and make sure it's connected to your computer (via Wi-Fi or USB).
  2. Place the document you want to transfer face down on the scanner glass or face up in the document feeder (if available).

Open the HP Smart App

  1. If you haven’t already installed the HP Smart app, you can download it from the Microsoft Store or the HP website.
  2. Open the HP Smart app on your Windows 10 computer.

Scan the Document

  1. In the HP Smart app, select Scan from the home screen.
  2. Adjust the scan settings (like resolution, color, and file type) if needed.
  3. Click Scan — your printer will start scanning the document.

Save the File

  1. Once the scan is complete, you’ll see a preview of the scanned document.
  2. Select Save or Export:
    • To save as a DOC file, you’ll need to open the scanned file in Microsoft Word (or Google Docs), then use "Save As" to convert it to a DOC file.
    • To save as a PDF file, you can select Save as PDF directly from the HP Smart app.

Confirm and Organize

  • Once saved, double-check the file to make sure it looks right.
  • You can now access and organize the file in your preferred folder!

If you run into any issues or need more help, feel free to ask — I’m happy to help! 😄

Take care, and have an amazing day!
