Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer is an HP Envy 7855.  I have recently been using it to scan photos of various sizes to my pc utilizing HP Smart.  I now want to scan some standard letter size documents to my pc.  Although they are scanned and sent, they arrive only partially scanned.  The photos I had before prior to attempting to scan the documents were 5 x 7's, and now even though I specified them to be documents which imply pdf the scanner only reproduced what amounts to a 5 X 7 portion of the document.  With the documents being pdf it seems strange that the scanner thinks its handling jpegs.

How do I get around this?

Thanks...

Hi @sjh01,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

There could be several reasons why the documents scanned to your PC using the HP Envy 7855 are only partially reproduced. Here are some possible solutions that you can try.

  • Check the scanning settings: Ensure that you have selected the correct settings for the scan, such as the file format, resolution, and color. Make sure that the settings are appropriate for the document you are scanning.
  • Clean the scanner glass: Check the scanner glass for any dirt or debris, as this can affect the quality of the scanned image. Clean the glass with a soft, lint-free cloth and some glass cleaner.
  • Update the printer driver: Ensure that you have the latest printer driver installed on your PC. Go to the HP website and download the latest driver for your printer model.
  • Restart the printer and PC: Restarting both the printer and your PC can sometimes resolve the issue. Turn off both devices, wait for a few seconds, and then turn them back on.
  • Use a different software: If you are using the default scanning software that came with the printer, try using a different scanning software such as Adobe Acrobat or Windows Scan.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your response.  Actually, there's a way to avoid the problem.  I had initially tried to accomplish the scan utilizing the touch screen on the printer.  Subsequently discovered that if you go directly to HP Smart without attempting to use the touch screen there will be no problem.  It appears that if you try scan to computer with the touch screen first only to discover that the function is not available from there, and then immediately thereafter attempt to do the scan using HP Smart  it's not going to work.
