Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 11

I need to scan a double sided document on my 8610. I recently changed computer and had scanning software that did this, with me re-inserting the document in to scan the backside and which assimilated all of the front and back pages.

When I try to scan by clicking on then printer icon now the app that opens just scans one sides, and I cannot see what has been scanned before downloading it so I could remove blank pages, or add pages to the scan.

I have tried to download and use HP Smart, but when I try to scan it asks me to sign into my HP account. I do have one and I put in the login details HP Smart just hangs trying to open the account details. It seems to be impossible to scan documents without loggin in, which is completely ridiculous. I just want to scan a bloody document, just let me do it, I should not have to log in somewhere just to be able to do this.

Really frustrated !! Can someone please help.

Hello @Kalkin70 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list.
  2. Restart the PC
  3. Close all programs
  4. download only this complete package: HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series / HP OfficeJet 8600 Series Printer Full Feature So...
    File name: Full_Webpack-116_1-Full_Webpack.exe (123.9 MB)
    Read all information before downloading.
  5. Close all programs
  6. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE,
  7. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
  8. Restart the System again
  9. Now the installation is complete.

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.

Reminder: for manual double-sided scanning, the resolution must not be set higher than 300 dpi (200 or 150 or 100).

Kind Regards

Hi,

I have done all of the above/below. It all went successfully, but I am not sure what I am meant to do now to scan a document. There does not seem to be an app installed for this. I did deselect all 4 of the what seemed like optional extras to install during the setup, but am a bit lost now.

Regards,

Ben

Which 4 optional extras have you deselected?

Two screenshots attached. The first is the 4 software options I decided not to instal. The first 3 I did not want and the fourth is the one I had problems with before and I also see no reason for. I can see well enough when my ink is getting low.

The second screenshot is an error message I got when I tried to complete the instal. I went to the website in the error message but this just had me download the same exe file again and do the same thing, so no change there.

No Internet connection ...
Which connection type have you selected?

Wireless. It has already connected and added the printer as a device. I can print documents.

Any further help on this ?

Repeat the uninstallation and reinstallation.
But HP Smart must also be uninstalled.

Disable WiFi on the printer as well. Also remove the printer under "Devices and Printers".

All other programmes should also be closed!
