Hi @flamingo7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that your HP ENVY Photo 7858 is able to print but not scan on your Mac over a wireless connection, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that the printer is connected to the same wireless network as your Mac.
  • Verify that the wireless signal is stable.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and your Mac.
  • Power off your router and turn it back on after waiting for 10-15 seconds.

Update Drivers and Software:

  • Ensure that you have the latest HP software and printer drivers installed on your Mac.
  • You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support.

HP Easy Start:

  • Use the HP Easy Start application to reinstall the drivers and software.
  • Download HP Easy Start from the HP Support website and follow the instructions to properly set up your printer.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that the scanner is set up correctly.
  • Open HP Utility from your Applications folder and ensure that the scanner is detected.

Use HP Smart:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store.
  • Add your printer to the app and try scanning a document to see if the issue persists.

Firewall Settings:

  • Check your network’s firewall settings to ensure that they aren’t blocking the connection between the scanner and your Mac.

Perform a Scan Test:

  • Open the “Image Capture” app on your Mac, which is found in Applications > Utilities.
  • Select your printer from the list and try to scan.

Take care and have an amazing day!
