I can't really help you with your printer problem, but I can tell you that I got that same error around the same time of day.  The printer works fine, via wireless, but I can't login to scan anything.  I even tried creating a new User ID, which didn't make any difference.  Hopefully, we won't have to wait long for them to fix the problem.  Welcome to the world of HP!
