The other day my internet went out and the cable guy had to replace my modem. Ever since it was fixed my fax machine keeps telling those who fax to me that recipient is busy. I did some trouble shooting through virtual agent and now the problem is worse. I keep calling to speak with a live agent but that was a waste of my time. I am trying to work from home and the need is urgent! No one can help me. I need an answer QUICKLY! I already called my phone company but they said the issue would have to be addressed with HP. Can anybody help or have some other ideas?

@Megan2020, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Are you using a dedicated fax line or a shared line?

Make sure you are using a 2-wire fax cable that connects to the Line-1 port at the back of the printer.

Check the connections.

Run a fax test on the printer.

Go to Fax > Setup > Tools > Run fax test

Check the report for any failures.

For more info, refer to - Resolving Fax Problems

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@Megan2020

Try sending a test fax to HP. Refer to this document to know how. In response, you will also receive fax from HP. By this, we can check if you are able to send and receive a fax.

Keep me posted.
