The printer lacks any fax hardware --  that is, there is no fax machine built into the printer.

HP Mobile Fax - at this writing -- cannot be used to receive Faxes.

Mobile Fax - FAQ

Can I receive a fax without a fax machine?

No, HP Mobile Fax only supports sending to other fax machines. To receive faxes from another party, you would need to also have a fax machine.
