Prior to obtaining a new modem I was able to fax and receive faxes. Currently the fax test indicates that there is no active phone line. The phone has a dial tone. I have the lines in the correct ports, to no avail. I have an HP Officejet pro all in one 6978. I have contacted xfinity but they couldn’t address this. I would appreciate any assistance. Thank you!

There are problems faxing over a VOIP line.  Usually the problem is poor transmission rather than no signal.

You could also scan to your PC and then use an email to fax service.  My son does this but he does not fax very much.
