HP Laserjet 200 MFP
macOS 10.14 Mojave

2024 installed HP Laserjet 200 on new macMini.  The scanner now only works with letter sized docs.  The updated software does not allow a choice for  legal size scanning.  Newest software no longer gives choices for size, density, type, etc.  Does anyone have a workaround?

HI @goldzone,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet 200 is not allowing you to scan legal-sized documents on your Mac mini, here are a few workarounds you can try:

Workaround 1: Use HP Smart App

  1. Download HP Smart: If you haven't already, download the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store.
  2. Open HP Smart: Launch the app and select your printer.
  3. Scan Options: Look for scan options within the app. It might allow you to set the document size manually.

Workaround 2: Use Image Capture

  1. Open Image Capture: Search for "Image Capture" in Spotlight (Cmd + Space).
  2. Select Your Printer: In the left panel, select your HP LaserJet 200.
  3. Choose Scan Size: Check for any options to set the document size. If legal is not available, try creating a custom size.

Workaround 3: Adjust Scanner Preferences

  1. Open System Preferences: Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."
  2. Select Your Printer: Click on your HP LaserJet 200 and check for any "Options & Supplies" settings.
  3. Check Scanner Settings: Look for any settings related to scanning and adjust them if available.

Workaround 4: Update or Reinstall Drivers

  1. Check for Updates: Visit the HP website and ensure you have the latest drivers for macOS.
  2. Reinstall Drivers: Uninstall the existing drivers and reinstall the latest version to see if it resolves the issue.

Workaround 5: Use a Third-Party Scanning App

  1. Consider Third-Party Apps: Apps like VueScan or ExactScan may offer more advanced scanning options, including legal size.

Workaround 6: Use the Printer's Control Panel

  1. Check Printer's Control Panel: If your printer has a control panel, see if it allows setting the scan size directly from there.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
