HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a/H711g

The light on the glass turns on, on the RHS, when I turn on my HP 6600 Inkjet Printer. My printer can print a test page & is recognized by the home network – but it will not scan nor copy any page – please help diagnose this problem

Hi @KHemant ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Officejet 6600 printer is experiencing issues with scanning and copying, despite being able to print and connect to your home network. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
  • Check Scanner Components: Make sure there are no obstructions on the scanner glass or the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) if your printer has one. Even a small piece of debris can interfere with the scanning process.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. You can usually download the latest drivers from the HP website or through the HP printer software installed on your computer.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can address bugs or compatibility issues that may affect scanning and copying functionalities. Check for firmware updates through the printer's control panel or the HP website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Reset Printer Settings: Resetting the printer to its default settings can sometimes resolve software-related issues. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Test with Different Documents: Try scanning or copying different types of documents to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the problem may be specific to certain types of documents or paper sizes.
  • Check Network Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your home network and that there are no connectivity issues. You can try printing a network configuration page from the printer's control panel to verify its network settings.
  • Scan from Computer Software: If scanning directly from the printer isn't working, try scanning from your computer using the HP scanning software or other scanning applications. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer hardware or the scanning software.
