HP7855
macOS 10.14 Mojave

My previous 7850 automatically scanned letter or legal docs to my MAC using the doc feeder.  However, the 7855 is treating legal like letter size, cutting off the bottom. I have looked for posted solutions but do not see any option on the 7855 to change paper size when scanning to computer.  One post indicated that there would be such an option on the scan shortcut, but the 7855 scan shortcut  only gives options for saving as other document types, not other paper sizes.

@Sapulpa,

Are you scanning the document to the MAC from the printer Control Panel or from an application on the MAC?

If you are using the HP Easy Scan App to scan the Legal size document, please change the paper settings to Legal Size. Follow the steps below:

  • Go to Finder and Open HP Easy Scan
  • From the Presets drop-down menu, click on edit settings

  • Select Type as 'Document'

  • Select 'Crop to' option as 'US Legal'
  • Click on the icon.
  • Provide a name for this preset and click OK.
  • When trying to scan a document, select the newly created preset for scanning Legal size
  • Try to scan and check if that works.

If you are scanning from the printer front panel,

  • Go to Finder and open HP Folder > Open HP Utility
  • Select 'Scan to Computer'
  • Select 'Edit Scan Tasks'
  • Select 'Save as PDF' and click on Edit
  • Select 'Show Details'
  • Select the 'Crop to' option as 'US Legal'
  • Click on the Presets drop-down and select 'Save as'
  • Create a preset name and click OK
  • Click save
  • Try to scan again
