Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP OfficeJet Pro 8715
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have installed all the printer's (HP OfficeJet Pro 8715) available full software package, yet there is not any for scanning unless I use the stupid HP cloud services, which I HATE HATE HATE. Why is there no longer scanning software to scan directly to my hard drive? If there is, where can I find it? This has become a major pain. I may never buy HP again. Thanks

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to find the scanning software.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you refer to the below article on how to scan from your computer.

Are you able to make a copy?

I recommend follow the below steps and check if it helps.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.

I have no interest in making copies, and I'm sure from the front panel that is possible. The issue is stand alone scanning software like you used to have. I hate MS Apps.

Also have no interest in your HP cloud product.

Stand alone HP Scanner software still cannot be found, unless you want to deal with HP cloud or HP Windows Apps. You taken away scanning software. I do not need or want cloud or Windows Apps.
