HP App Not Seeing Scanner

First of all why can't I select my OS or product or add a product to my profile above where I'm typing this?

My device is the HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m.  It's a printer, scanner, and fax machine all in one.  it's connected to my home's router via ethernet. The HP app on my Android phone sees the printer but not the scanner. The scanner works when it's connected to my PC via USB and my PC can see the scanner over the network.

I'm thinking that the problem could be that the printer is I guess 15 years old. But please don't jump to conclusions and assume that that's the problem unless you know for sure that it is.

Would anybody have any idea why the HP print service that the HP app installed sees the printer but the Android print service doesn't? Also because it's an old printer?

Yes, your printer is too old a model to be supported in the HP Smart app. It can work on a computer, but on smartphones nope. 

Printers produced from 2014. are supported in HP Smart.

Yes, it can see a device but since not supported nothing else.
