My scanner is only including the parts of the page with image/text on it, rather than the whole 8.5x11 sheets. Help please!

Hello @jcharrison70 ,

If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301 scanner is only scanning parts of the page with image/text and not the entire 8.5x11 sheet, follow these steps to ensure that your settings are correct:

  1. Ensure the Document is Properly Placed:

    • For the automatic document feeder (ADF), make sure the top-end of the stack of originals is correctly inserted into the ADF input tray with the media stack face-up.
    • For the flatbed scanner, place the original document face-down on the flatbed scanner with the upper-left corner aligned at the corner indicated by the icon on the scanner.
  2. Adjust the Scan Settings:

    • Ensure that your scan settings are set to capture the full page. You might need to adjust settings such as the scan area or page size to ensure it captures the entire document.
    • Check if there are settings related to "Auto Crop" that might be inadvertently enabled. Disable any auto-cropping features if necessary.
  3. Use Scan Software:

    • If you're using HP scan software, ensure that it is configured to scan the entire page. You can usually find options to select the scan area, including full page or custom size.
    • Use the HP LaserJet Scan (if available) to set defaults for scanning.
  4. Check Software Preferences:

    • If you are using third-party scanning software or a different program to manage your scans, ensure that the software isn't set to crop or only capture parts of the document. Look for options that allow full-page scans and adjust accordingly.
  5. Perform a Test Scan:

    • Perform a test scan using the recommended settings. Utilize the "Preview" feature to ensure the full page is visible before saving or finalizing the scan.
  6. Reset Settings:

    • If changes do not yield results, try resetting the scanner settings to default and attempt to reconfigure from scratch.
