Hi @aldinn

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for getting your HP Deskjet F4210 printing again—and I’m truly sorry the scanner isn’t responding. This is often due to missing scan components in the basic driver package.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore scanning on Windows 10 (64-bit).

Step-by-Step: Fix Scanner Not Working on HP Deskjet F4210 (Windows 10)

1. Uninstall Current Driver

  • Press Windows + X > select Apps and Features.
  • Uninstall any HP Deskjet software or drivers listed.
  • Restart your PC.

This clears any partial or conflicting installations.

2. Install Full Feature Software (Legacy Package)

Download the HP Deskjet F4200 series Full Feature Software and Drivers from this official page:
HP Deskjet F4210 Full Software for Windows 10 (64-bit)

Select Windows 10 (64-bit) if not already selected.

Under Driver-Product Installation Software, download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver.

This package includes HP Solution Center, which enables scanning.

3. Restart and Test Scanning

  • After installation, restart your PC.
  • Open HP Solution Center from the Start menu.
  • Try scanning a document using Scan Document or Picture.

If HP Solution Center doesn’t open, try scanning from Windows Fax and Scan or Paint.

4. Use Windows Fax and Scan

  • Press Windows + S, type Windows Fax and Scan, and open it.
  • Click New Scan.
  • Select your HP Deskjet F4210 from the scanner list.
  • Try scanning a test page.

This method uses Windows’ built-in scan interface.

5. Check WIA Service

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Scroll to Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
  • Right-click > Start (or Restart if already running).
  • Set Startup type to Automatic.

WIA is required for scanning to work with most HP devices.

Let me know how the scanner responds after installing the full feature package. If needed, I can guide you through checking device manager or using HP Print and Scan Doctor as a secondary diagnostic.

You're doing everything right—this should help bring your scanner back to life.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
