My HP ENVY 5660 printer won't copy anything on the glass, but will print from my iMac.  Any suggestions?

Hi @HelenBoise,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 5660 printer is not able to copy documents placed on the glass, but it prints fine from your iMac, there could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Check Paper Tray and Settings:

  • Ensure that there is paper loaded in the paper tray of the printer.
  • Check the paper settings on the printer's control panel to make sure they match the paper loaded in the tray.

Inspect Scanner Glass and Lid:

  • Open the scanner lid and check the scanner glass for any smudges, dirt, or debris. Clean the glass with a soft, lint-free cloth and glass cleaner if necessary.
  • Also, check the underside of the scanner lid for any marks or debris that could interfere with scanning.

Restart the Printer:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.

Update Firmware:  Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for updates using the printer's control panel or through the HP website.

Reset Printer:

  • If the issue persists, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings. Instructions for resetting can usually be found in the printer's manual or on HP's support website.

Check Copy Settings on Printer:

  • Ensure that the copy settings on the printer (such as number of copies, paper size, etc.) are correctly configured.

Check for Error Messages:

  • If there are any error messages or codes displayed on the printer's control panel, note them down as they can provide clues to what might be wrong.

Test with Different Documents:

  • Try copying different types of documents (color, black and white, text, image) to see if the issue persists across different types of copies.

I hope this helps.
